Message from Venkat Reddy (delegation member Africa Tour) Posted on 29-10-2008

Greetings from the Stop Child Labour Africa Tour delegation. As you all know we are now in Uganda, after visiting Morocco, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. The tour is really creating a lot of debate and discussions.

We as a group are trying hard to put forward our point of view which is total abolition of child labour and right to education as a non negotiable. The area specific strategy and creating Child Labour Free Zones concept is picking up in all the countries.

This tour is definitely creating a mood on the issue of child labour and education. Our team members are not leaving any opportunity to interact with people around and making a strong point.

We are also learning a lot through this tour. The struggles people are going through in this part of the world especially in Zimbabwe. At the same time they are with lot of HOPE.

Having no cynicism, no sarcasm, not loosing faith in the system are some of these people's strengths. One needs to learn these things from them. We all need to stand by them to realise their hopes into reality.

I am really thankful to the Stop Child Labour campaign for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this movement.

Regards, Venkat Reddy (Hivos partner MVF from India).
